Why expert advice is worth having
Organisations rarely fail Cyber Security Audit because the standard is hard. They fail because the evidence does not match what the auditor asks for.
Experience across sectors
Having implemented Cyber Security Audit in very different operating environments, we can tell you quickly which of your worries are real and which are inherited from someone else's situation.
Self assessment is generous
Everyone marks their own Cyber Security Audit homework kindly. An outside gap analysis tells you the uncomfortable part while it is still cheap to fix rather than three weeks before the audit.
The certification body is independent
We prepare you for Cyber Security Audit, and an accredited body decides. Because we do not issue the certificate, our only interest is that you actually pass, which is what makes the preparation worth paying for.
A date you can actually commit to
Knowing which parts of Cyber Security Audit can be compressed and which cannot is the difference between meeting a tender deadline and explaining why you missed it.

What Cyber Security Audit is worth to you
Certification is a commercial decision before it is a technical one. This is where the return usually shows up.
Controls Actually Working
An audit checks whether written policy is followed in daily practice, which is precisely where most security programmes quietly fail.
Evidence for Supervisors
Independent audit findings and their closure records are what regulators, exchanges and major clients ask to inspect first.
Repeat Findings Ended
Tracking corrective actions through to verified closure stops identical issues reappearing in every review year after year.
Third Party Risk Visible
Auditing vendor connections and integrations shows where somebody else's weak security has already become your exposure.

Look at how it is structured before you commit
A good Cyber Security Audit document set is smaller than most people expect and far better organised. Numbering that makes sense, revision control that holds, records that prove the system ran rather than that someone wrote a policy. See it for yourself in a short demo before you decide who to work with.
Cyber Security Audit in detail
Testing conformity against a stated set of criteria
A cyber security audit is a formal, evidence based examination of whether defined requirements are being met. The criteria must be fixed in advance: an information security policy, the ISO 27001 control set, a contractual security schedule, sector regulation, or a group standard issued by a parent company. Auditors sample, test and record. The output is a conformity judgement supported by evidence, not an opinion about what the organisation ought to do next. That distinction is what makes it usable in governance.
Audits are commissioned by boards and audit committees discharging oversight duties, by parent companies checking subsidiaries, by customers exercising a right to audit written into their contract, and by organisations auditing their own suppliers and managed service providers. Regulated firms often have a required frequency. Internal audit functions bring us in when the subject matter runs past their team's technical depth but the work still has to follow their methodology and reporting line.
Sampling, evidence and findings that name the requirement
We agree criteria, scope and sampling method first, in writing, and confirm who owns each area so evidence requests reach the right person. Fieldwork follows the ISO 19011 pattern: examine documents, interview process owners, observe practice, and test records against the requirement. For technical controls we take evidence directly, including access review records, patch reports, log samples, change tickets, backup restore tests and firewall rule sets, and we check the dates rather than accepting a screenshot.
Each finding is written against a specific requirement, with the evidence supporting it and a clear statement of what was expected. Nonconformities are graded, observations are kept separate from them, and we resist padding the report with advice, since an auditor who designs the fix cannot credibly audit it afterwards. Where the same weakness appears across several sites or systems, it is reported once as a systemic finding instead of a dozen times as separate ones.
The audit report, findings closure and the trail it leaves
You get an audit plan, a working paper file supporting every conclusion, a report listing conformity, nonconformity and observations with severity, and a corrective action format that asks for root cause rather than a promise to be more careful. MSCi conducts the audit directly as an independent party. If the same requirements are also being certified, the certification body's audit is a separate exercise and its auditors will examine your closure evidence.
What it changes is accountability. Findings carrying an owner, a date and a root cause tend to get closed, and the closure evidence builds a trail that satisfies the next reviewer without a fresh investigation. Repeat audits show whether the management system is improving or whether the same issues return every cycle, a question boards ask often and few organisations can answer with evidence. Contractual audit rights get discharged cleanly and on record.

Cyber Security Audit questions we are asked most
What will we have to put in place for Cyber Security Audit?
Independently tests whether the controls you claim are the controls you run. The requirements fall into four buckets: define it, document it, run it long enough to generate records, then audit it yourself before the certification body does.
How long does Cyber Security Audit take?
Two to four months is the honest range for most organisations, measured from gap analysis to the certification audit. What moves it is how much you already document, how quickly people can be released for training, and the certification body's own diary.
Do you issue the Cyber Security Audit certificate yourselves?
No, and no consultant should. The certificate comes from an independent accredited certification body after their own audit. We prepare you to pass it and we are there on the day to close findings. That separation is exactly what makes the certificate worth holding.
How is Cyber Security Audit consultancy priced?
We price per engagement rather than per seat, because a single site business and a five site group need very different amounts of work. You get a written proposal covering scope, audit days and fees before committing to anything.
Which industries need Cyber Security Audit?
We map Cyber Security Audit to 5 sectors and it sits in our cyber security practice. Organisations usually arrive because a specific buyer, regulator or tender committee has asked. Tell us who is asking and we will confirm whether this is the standard that satisfies them.
Can you work remotely, or do you need to be on site?
Both, and hybrid. Gap analysis and audit day usually benefit from someone physically present, while documentation and training work perfectly well remotely. We fit delivery to your sites and schedule rather than the reverse.
