Training

Training that outlasts the certificate

A management system survives on the people who run it. We train those people: awareness for the many, auditing skills for the few, and implementation help for the team in between.

What we run

Each kind of training has its own page, with its own upcoming sessions. Choose one to read what it covers and when it next runs.

Every programme can be run for your organisation alone, at your site or online, against the standard you hold or are working towards. Ask about a private session.

Training calendar

Every scheduled session, by type. Dates are confirmed when you register.

Nothing is scheduled at the moment — most of our training runs privately, arranged for one organisation at a time. Ask for a date.

Choosing the right training

Which course a role actually needs

Three levels cover almost every requirement, and organisations routinely buy the wrong one. Awareness training is for everybody whose work touches the system, and it exists so that an auditor asking a machine operator what the policy means gets an answer. Internal auditor training is for the handful of people who will audit the system from inside, and it is the course most organisations under-buy. Lead auditor training is a formal, examined qualification, needed by people who will audit other organisations or lead an audit programme.

A supplier being assessed by a customer usually needs the first two. The third is a career qualification, and buying it for a team that needs internal audit competence is an expensive way to get the wrong thing.

Training is a clause of the standard, not an extra

Every management system standard requires competence: that the organisation determines what is needed, provides it, and retains evidence that it worked. Attendance is not evidence of competence on its own — an auditor looking at this clause asks what changed as a result, which is why a short post-session evaluation is worth more than a longer attendance sheet.

This is also the most common place an otherwise sound system loses marks in a customer assessment. The training happened, and nothing recorded what it covered, who attended or whether it landed.

Public courses and private programmes

A public course suits one or two people and a fixed syllabus. A private programme suits a team, and it is usually better value past about four attendees — but the real reason to run one is that it can be taught against your own processes, your own documents and the standard you actually hold.

Either can run at your site or online. What does not change is that training a team on the standard and preparing the organisation for its audit are two different pieces of work, and the second is not achieved by doing more of the first.
