Why expert advice is worth having
Organisations rarely fail CMMI because the standard is hard. They fail because the evidence does not match what the auditor asks for.
Template packs fail on contact
Downloaded CMMI documentation describes a company that does not exist. Staff do not recognise the process, records never get made, and the gap shows up on audit day.
The certification body is independent
We prepare you for CMMI, and an accredited body decides. Because we do not issue the certificate, our only interest is that you actually pass, which is what makes the preparation worth paying for.
It has to survive after we leave
A CMMI system that only works while a consultant is on site fails its first surveillance audit. We build it so your own people can run it, and train them to do so.
Your team already has a day job
Running CMMI in house means taking your most capable people off revenue work for months. For most organisations that hidden cost is larger than the fee for doing it properly.

What CMMI is worth to you
Certification is a commercial decision before it is a technical one. This is where the return usually shows up.
Delivery Dates Believable
Measured process performance lets you commit to schedules you can actually hit, and that is what wins repeat software business.
Rate Card Defended
An appraised maturity level supports higher billing rates against competitors bidding purely on cost per engineering hour.
Bid Prequalification
Many large information technology tenders, particularly in government and defence, set a minimum maturity level just to submit.
Project Overruns Shrink
Estimation drawn from your own historical data replaces the optimistic guessing that quietly eats project margin every quarter.

Look at how it is structured before you commit
Documentation for CMMI fails when it describes a company nobody recognises. Ours maps clause by clause onto how you actually operate, so the manual, the procedures and the record formats hang together and an auditor can follow the thread. Book a demo and we will show you that structure on screen, not describe it.
CMMI in detail
A maturity model for how work actually gets delivered
CMMI describes the practices an organisation uses to develop, deliver, manage and improve work, arranged into practice areas and maturity levels running from initial through managed, defined, quantitatively managed and optimising. It is not a standard you comply with clause by clause. It is a benchmark of capability, appraised by a certified lead appraiser under the published appraisal method, and the resulting rating carries a validity period. The model spans development, services and supplier management.
Demand comes mostly from procurement. Government and defence contracts, large systems integrators selecting subcontractors, and international clients evaluating offshore delivery capability frequently set a maturity level as an entry condition. Indian IT services firms, engineering services providers and product companies with public sector exposure make up most of the interest. Some organisations pursue it internally instead, because they have grown fast and their delivery results depend on which manager happens to be running the project.
Practice areas, evidence and the appraisal dry run
We start by reading what you already do. Most delivery organisations have more practice in place than they think and far less evidence than they need. Current process assets are mapped against the practice areas in scope, then we define the organisational standard process set with tailoring guidelines teams can apply honestly rather than route around. Estimation, planning, monitoring, configuration management, peer review, supplier agreement management and causal analysis each get concrete, usable artefacts.
After that it becomes measurement and habit. We set up the process asset library, the measurement repository and the baselines that higher maturity levels depend on, and work with project teams so records emerge from doing the work rather than being assembled the month before. Ahead of the formal event we run a dry run appraisal against live projects, sample the evidence the way an appraisal team would, and fix whatever fails to hold up.
Appraisal readiness and the habits that outlast it
You end up with a defined process architecture, tailoring guidance, templates in use on real projects, a measurement repository holding genuine data, trained process group members, and an evidence set traceable practice by practice. The formal appraisal is conducted by an appraisal team led by a certified lead appraiser, and the rating is published by the model owner. MSCi prepares your organisation and acts as process consultant, but does not award the level.
The lasting benefit shows up in estimation and predictability. When plans are built on your own historical data instead of optimism, commitments get met more often and escalations fall away. New projects start from a template rather than a blank page, and staff moving between accounts recognise how work is run. Bid teams gain a credible answer on delivery capability, which in evaluation often matters more than the rating itself.

CMMI questions we are asked most
What does CMMI actually require from us?
You will need a defined scope, documentation that reflects actual practice rather than intent, evidence the system has been operating for a reasonable period, trained staff, and at least one internal audit and management review on file.
How long does CMMI take?
Most CMMI projects run three months or so. The single biggest variable is not the standard, it is how fast your team can be freed up for training and internal audit alongside their normal work.
Do you issue the CMMI certificate yourselves?
No, and no consultant should. The certificate comes from an independent accredited certification body after their own audit. We prepare you to pass it and we are there on the day to close findings. That separation is exactly what makes the certificate worth holding.
How is CMMI consultancy priced?
It depends on your headcount, how many sites are in scope and how much of a system already exists, so we quote after a short conversation rather than publishing a figure that would be wrong for most readers. Scope, timeline and fees come to you in writing first.
Which industries need CMMI?
We map CMMI to 3 sectors and it sits in our cyber security practice. Organisations usually arrive because a specific buyer, regulator or tender committee has asked. Tell us who is asking and we will confirm whether this is the standard that satisfies them.
Can you work remotely, or do you need to be on site?
Remote delivery covers most of a CMMI project comfortably. We recommend onsite presence for the initial assessment and for the certification audit, where being in the room genuinely changes the outcome.
